The idea of using of liquid nitrogen in making ice cream might sound like right out of a sci-fi movie, but the practically it is possible and is being done right in front of your eyes. The application of liquid nitrogen in the culinary world predates the molecular gastronomy movement and can be actually traced back to 1911. Liquid Nitrogen is (-320°F) or -195.6 °C. Although, the introduction of liquid ice cream is not new in Kolkata’s Food Industry, and in the last year, various restaurants have emerged offering the new technique in preparation of fresher and creamer ice cream. But the recent buzz about the latest introduction in this field gained my attention. Thus, I visited N2Icream for figuring out whether all the buzz was worth it or not!
Well, it is about 15 minutes walking distance from Maddox Square.
Visit: After the absolutely delicious dim sums enjoyed at Overdose, I headed towards N2Icream for calming my sweet-tooth. The place is really easy to locate and the interior is all light and full of energy. The icre cream is being prepared in front of your eyes, so that you can enjoy every moment of it. Further, they offer more than 20 different types of toppings that you can choose from and create your own ice cream. Do not hesitate to ask for base recommendation for your flavor of ice cream.
Classic benasari paan infused with ice cream and topped with some sweet sprinklers. I ordered cream base as recommended. I am not a fan of paan, but this ice cream has totally astounded me. The freshness of the paan, the sweetness of the sprinklers and the cold creamy ice cream has surprised me to the top. I just loved the flavor.
Cream base chocolate ice cream with brownie ad ins. I loved the texture with the brownie is completely mixed with the ice cream. The ice cream was topped with some chocolate sauce.
Don’t be deceived by its color, as I was. I ordered blue berry ice cream, but looking at the pink color thought it to be strawberry. Despite of the color, the ice cream has a sweet yet tangy flavor of blueberry that I loved the most.
Food Quality: ★★★★☆
Value for money: ★★★☆☆
I loved the texture of the ice cream but felt like it was little in proportion. Otherwise, a thumbs – up!
