Masala Dosa and coconut chutney has been my weakness for a long time. And for the occasion of Saraswati Puja, I have decided to visit Dosa @ Twist. The popularity of the restaurant for serving chicken dosa have attracted my attention long ago. Although, during my visit I have only tried their veg menu but I have no regret at all.
The place is little hard to find even if you follow google map. The small joint is hidden inside a shabby building of Desapriya Park more. I will advice ask the locals when you reach desapriya park more. The place is not overcrowded and the staff members are quite friendly. The interior are decorated with various photocopies of famous paintings including “Last Supper”, “Lady with an Ermine” and “Mona Lisa” by Leonardo da Vinci. Although amongst these, I felt that the light was little dim and interior and walls requires maintaining.
Food: This was my first visit to Dosa @ Twist and I tried to focus on the vegetarian menu. I have skip the normal vegetarian section I have ordered paneer dosa and pizza dosa.
Paneer Cheese Butter Masala:
Panner Cheese Butter Dosa was crispy and buttery from the outside and was loaded with paneer masala and cheese. Dosa was presented with four types of chutney, chili chutney, coriander chutney, coconut chutney and sambar. The coriander chutney was quite refreshing and new addition that goes well with the masala dosa. Fulfilling amount of masala was stuffed inside the dosa.
Veg Pizza Dosa:
Next we tried the veg masala dosa. The veg pizza dosa was well stuffed with baby corn, capsicum and olives. The base of the pizza was dosa and covered with pizza sauce, while the toppings and sprinkled with cheese and baked. The base of the pizza, (dosa) was not thin and was more like soft uttapam. Personally, I did not liked the taste of the veg pizza. The dosa pizza was medium in size but was filling enough to fill two hungry souls.
The last savior was the chocolate dosa served with vanilla ice cream. Chocolate and vanilla ice cream is a pair made in heaven. The dosa was filled with chocolate sauce, and sprinkled with chocolate and butterscotch chips. The combination of hot dosa along with cold vanilla ice cream was pure bliss.
Food Quality: ★★★★☆
Value for money: ★★★☆☆
The innovation with the dosa and various flavors of Indian Cuisine has lead this place to stand out from other restaurants serving south Indian food. Although the lace is little hard to find, but the unique combination of flavors worth the time. There are about more than hundred varieties of dosa to choose from and even offers varies dosas for the hard core non-veg lovers to munch on. This place is must try for the love of dosa and truly is a hidden gem. Good luck to Team Dosa @ Twist. 👍
