Swiggy or UberEats? Which one to choose?
Uber has recently launched their Food Delivery app in India: Uber Eats. And, its been only a few days, Uber has started their delivery in my area. There are various food delivery app currently in the market since quite a long time. And, most of the time, I prefer ordering food online rather than visiting a restaurant. And, I must agree that the introduction of various food delivery apps has increased my urge to order food online. I have used various apps in the past. But, ended up sticking to Swiggy. This this post I am going to share my experience between various food delivery apps that I have used till date.
Currently, I have devoted one entire homescreen to only food apps!
Yes. You read it right. The pioneer in home delivered foods. It was the first application I have used for ordering food online. How can one forget the iconic ad where Paresh Rawal “Ta-na-na-na-na-re, owe pizza aye free!”. Well, its the most reliable and relevant application for ordering “pizza” at home it date.
Verdict: Best for Domino’s Pizza
This app, well can’t say much about the app. I twice tried to order food through the app. The both the time ended up the restaurant I was looking for was not delivering at the moment or was not available. (While it was available on other apps fine).
Verdict: There are better apps present in the market!
Pioneer, one of its kind. No doubt. I love Zomato. It helped me discover hundreds of new restaurants, foods, cuisine and to the food world. But, I hope I should have stayed to restaurant search and discovery medium. I ordered food 3 – 4 times through the apps. The customer service is extremely hideous. Once, I never got my food delivered after waiting 1.5 hours, while the customer service told me “all the other delivery executives were busy delivering other customers”. And failing to deliver food within time and taking almost 2 hours to tell the order has been canceled and reimbursing about ₹ 60. And, surprisingly that was the second consecutive time, it happened. So, I figured out it was kind habitual. Thus, stopped looking at zomato for food delivery.
Verdict: Good for restaurant discovery. Poor for Food Delivery.
Its been more than one and half year I guess, and I am using the application for food ordering almost every week. It covers most of the restaurant in my locality. It provides ease of payment and various payment methods including paytm, bhim, cod, card payments. The only negative I find is no late night delivery and sometimes, the delivery charge and packaging charge is much high. Discounts are available only for some of the specific restaurant throughout the year. Above all, delivery time is high. Furthermore, high (+ additional) charge for distant restaurant.
Verdict: If you don’t mind waiting minimum 45 minutes for food, it is all good.
The recent addition in the food delivery business in Kolkata. The introductory offer are amazing. Many restaurants including Arsalan, India Restaurant providing 50% discount. Various and variable offers are present in almost each restaurant enlisted in the app. Significantly less delivery time by the executive. The cherry on the top was delivery was not bounded by the restaurants from my locality once. And that to without any additional cost. Late night delivery for restaurants that are open till midnight or all night. The negative point: I compared the cost incurred to a restaurant and items ordered through Swiggy and Uber Eats; when in both the apps no offer was provided for the same restaurant. I found out that, I ended up paying 27 rupees extra in UberEats compared to Swiggy (including the tax and delivery charge).
Verdict: Well, I am going to use Uber Eats for restaurants with offers and in case of less timed delivery.
I must say, I am confused between Swiggy and Uber Eats. High competition to stay in the market. Sometime, I prefer Uber Eats for the fast delivery and offer. Otherwise in restaurants, where no offers are present in Uber Eats, I prefer Swiggy. What is your favorite food delivery app?
PS: The review is based on my personal experience with the food delivery applications.
